We're here to answer your questions.

Every construction project is unique, and questions naturally come up along the way—whether it’s your first remodel or your fifth.

We’ve compiled answers to some of the most commonly asked questions to help you better understand our process. If you need additional information, we’d love to talk through your specific project.

How do I get an estimate for my project?

We start with a brief phone call or site visit to understand your goals, timeline, and budget range. From there, we provide a clear, detailed estimate based on the scope of work.

Are you a licensed and insured general contractor in Santa Cruz?

Do you work with architects and designers?

How long do construction projects usually take?

Yes. We are fully licensed and insured in California and work in compliance with all local Santa Cruz building codes and permit requirements.

Absolutely. We regularly collaborate with architects, designers, and engineers, and we’re also happy to recommend trusted local professionals if you don’t already have a team in place.

Timelines vary depending on the size and complexity of the project, as well as permitting and inspections. During the planning phase, we’ll outline a realistic schedule so you know what to expect before construction begins.

What areas do you serve?

We’re based in Soquel and serve surrounding areas including Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Scotts Valley, and the greater Santa Cruz County area. We also serve surrounding counties such as Santa Clara County, working as far south as Carmel.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. We manage the permitting process and coordinate required inspections with the City of Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz County to keep your project moving smoothly.

How far in advance should I contact a contractor?

We recommend reaching out as early as possible—especially for larger projects—so there’s enough time for planning, design coordination, and permits before construction begins.

What does the process look like for historic buildings?

Each historic building has its own unique requirements, constraints, and preservation considerations. Our team works closely with the Historic Resources Commission to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations. We also manage the necessary permitting, approvals, and inspections throughout the project, helping to streamline the process while preserving the building's historic character.

What should I expect while living in my home during construction?

Living through a renovation can be an adjustment, but proper planning and communication help make the process as smooth as possible. Clients should expect some level of noise, dust, and temporary disruptions to daily routines, especially during demolition and major construction phases.

Before work begins, we discuss project logistics, access to the home, work hours, and any areas that may be temporarily unavailable. Throughout the project, we maintain a clean and organized job site, communicate regularly about upcoming work, and work to minimize disruptions whenever possible.

Every project is different, but our goal is to keep you informed, protect your property, and make the construction process as manageable and predictable as possible.
